Fire Impact Fee Nexus Study

The *Sonoma County Fire District and the **Sonoma Valley Fire District are proposing to implement similar developer impact fees pursuant to the “Mitigation Fee Act” found in California Government Code § 66000 et seq. The purpose of the fee is to help fund one-time costs of expanding fire facilities, apparatus, and equipment needed to maintain its existing level of service.  To implement the fee programs, the Sonoma County Board of Supervisors must adopt the impact fee proposals on behalf of the Districts for development in the unincorporated areas of each district (two BOS agenda items).  The Town of Windsor Council must adopt the impact fee proposal on behalf of the Sonoma County Fire District specifically for development within the town limits—an area the Sonoma County Fire District covers in its entirety.  The fee programs will be brought before Sonoma County Board of Supervisor for on March 23rd and to the Town of Windsor on a date shortly thereafter.
